Hatter & Hobbit

The Spirit told him he wouldn't die until he'd seen the Christ. Then one ordinary morning, a poor young couple walked into the temple with their baby. "Depart in Peace" is Simeon's song from Luke 2: a man who stood at everyone else's grave saying "not yet," until he held the child and was ready for his own.

A sleeping gardener, a door in the side of an ark, a struck rock, a river from the temple, a spear, and an empty tomb in a garden: six scenes from across the Bible, and one picture running through all of them. "A Door in the Side" traces how life has always come through an opened side, from Eden to the cross, where the side of Christ was opened and His bride, the church, was born. Simple enough to sing on the first listen, deep enough to keep unfolding for years.
