Peter's Fire

Hatter & Hobbit Music

In the bitter cold of denial and the burning shame of failure, the disciple is met by the very fire that once exposed him. Now it restores and makes him holy.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]

Darkness falls, hear the rooster scream

Crowd’s alive, tearing at my dream

“You’re His man!” they accuse, they press

I choke, deny, my soul’s a mess

“Never knew Him!”—my words betray

First denial, I’m fading away

[Pre-Chorus]

Oh, the guilt’s a chain, it’s dragging me low

Truth’s a flame, but my fear’s in control

Christ’s own eyes, they pierce my core

Yet His grace calls me to something more

[Chorus]

Whoa, I’m falling in the fire, undone!

Whoa, my heart’s a traitor on the run!

Clothed in shame, I break, I bend

But grace will rise, it’s not the end!

Whoa, burn in the fire! Burn in the fire!

[Verse 2]

Night’s so cold, accusations sting

“You’re His!”—I curse, the lies I bring

Second blow, my faith’s a dying spark

Third denial, I’m lost in the dark

Rooster crows, my spirit’s torn

Guilt’s a storm where my hope is worn

[Pre-Chorus]

Oh, the shame’s a blade, it’s carving my soul

Fear’s a cage, and I’ve lost control

Christ’s own love, it holds me still

Sovereign mercy bends my will

[Chorus]

Whoa, I’m falling in the fire, undone!

Whoa, my heart’s a traitor on the run!

Clothed in shame, I break, I bend

But grace will rise, it’s not the end!

Whoa, burn in the fire! Burn in the fire!

[Bridge]

By the shore, feel the morning’s breath

Risen Lord breaks the chains of death

“Do you love Me?”—three times He calls

Each word heals where my failure falls

“Yes, my Lord!” I weep, I vow

“Feed My sheep!”—He lifts me now

Grace ignites, my soul’s set free

Christ’s forgiveness is my victory!

[Chorus]

Whoa, I’m rising in the fire, restored!

Whoa, my soul’s alive in the Lord!

Clothed in grace, I stand, I sing

Bound to the Rock, my eternal King!

Whoa, burn in the fire! Burn in the fire!

[Outro]

Burn in the fire, yeah, I’m made anew

Christ’s own mercy pulls me through

From ashes raised, I’ll shout His name

Peters’ fire, forever His flame!

Whoa, burn in the fire! Burn in the fire!

Song Meaning

You stand in the torch-lit courtyard as the night closes in and the rooster screams from the stone wall. The first accusation comes — “You’re His man!” — and the denial slips out before courage can rise. “I do not know Him.” The fire in the center throws long shadows across the flagstones, but the real blaze is already climbing your spine.

The second blow lands harder. “You are one of them.” Another lie tears from your mouth. Guilt chains drag lower with every breath. The third time the pressure mounts, your faith a dying spark, and the words betray you completely. The rooster crows again. Christ’s eyes turn and find you across the flames — piercing, knowing, full of a love that will not look away. Your traitor heart shatters. You flee into the dark, clothed in shame, falling headlong into the fire of your own making.

Yet grace will rise. It is not the end.

By the misty shore at first light the risen Lord waits. Morning breath on the water. Three times He asks the question that heals the three wounds: “Do you love Me?” Each word lands like sovereign mercy on the anvil of your broken will, restoring what each denial had broken. You weep. You vow with everything left in you. “Yes, Lord… You know that I love You.” And He lifts you — “Feed My sheep” — commissioning the one who had fallen so far.

Grace ignites. The same fire that consumed you now burns clean and bright. You rise in it, restored, clothed not in shame but in grace, bound to the Rock, your eternal King. From ashes you are raised. Peter’s fire becomes forever His flame.

You stand. You sing. The foe of your own soul lies defeated beneath the mercy that would not let you go.

Burn in the fire — and live.
